Bishop Ross is an exuberant, dynamic, charismatic, "HOLY GHOST FILLED", no nonsense, messenger of God. He is quick to let his members know that
he will not accept a defeated attitude...

Dr. Earl Ross is the Pastor of the New Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church (NSMBC) in Northeast, Washington, DC where he has served faithfully for 30 years.

Dr. Ross accepted the call to preach the gospel more than 30 years ago. In 1968 he united with the Central Baptist Church where he was licensed to preach the gospel and ordained into the ministry. He later pastored the Antioch Baptist Church in King George County, Virginia until he was called to the Pastorate at NSMBC in 1979.

Dr. Ross is a seasoned leader and Church Administrator. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit he has led NSMBC through progressive phases of growth and development, useful and holistic ministries that serve the needs of its members and the community. He recently initiated plans to develop a therapeutic drug treatment program and under his leadership, the church has purchased six plots of land. This land is to be used for the expansion of the church ministry.

Dr. Ross has a Bachelors Degree in Theology and Divinity, a Master's Degree in Bibilical Studies, two Honorary Doctorate Degrees and a Doctor of Philosophy in Theology. He believes that an effective church must be an equipped church. In June of 1995 he was led to establish the Sword of the Sprit Bible Instute (SSBI), a fully accredited seminary authorized to convey Certificates, Bachelors and Masters degrees in divinity, theology and biblical studies. The courses of study at SSBI are designed to prepare ministers and lay people to "...set for the defense of the gospel" (Phil. 1:17). SSBI conferred undergraduate degrees on its first graduating class in June 2002. In 2003, applications were received for participation in SSBI's graduate level program.

Dr. Ross operates under a strong prophetic anointing. He has a yearning to see the office of the prophet in full operation in the Church. He believes that the prophetic ministry is especially important during theses end times as we prepare to be the "...radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless." (Ephesians 5:27 - NIV) To facilitate this effort, Dr. Ross organized and established the New Smyrna Diocese. This Diocese consists of eight churches with like minds, ministries and goals.

Dr. Ross is married to Minister Dovie L. Ross who stands beside him to support him and the ministry that the Lord has given him to be steward over. They have three children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
